Bhoomi Poojan and Khanan Vidhi Ceremonies Updates

The Jain Society of Greater Cleveland (JSGC) hosted a very successful Bhoomi Poojan and Khanan Vidhi ceremony on October 20 and October 21, 2007. The ceremonies were attended by approximately 200 people on each day. Well-known Vidikhar Shri Nareshbhai traveled from Long Island, New York to host our event. We were also honored to have Shri Chandrakant Mehta, a well-known speaker in Jain philosophy to guide our function.

The ceremonies started off with a wonderful pooja in which many families had the opportunity to participate. After the pooja, there was a swamivatsalya, followed by a cultural program. Children recited the Tirthankars names, and also participated in a drama. A few ladies performed a dance. Mahila Mandal kept the mood up with many devotional songs.

On Sunday, the Bhoomi Poojan took place to purify the land with mantras before the actual construction began. We couldn't have asked for better weather. Then the Khanan Vidhi began with many families participating in digging the ground at the temple site.

We would like to thank all the people who helped to make this a very successful event. This community becomes strong with the combined efforts of all. Thanks also to all of the people who attended and either contributed by their time or donation. We appreciate it all
